Greylisting SPAM

Topic Info

GreylistingA message to our clients utilizing our e-mail service. Our e-mail servers have been hit with a ridiculous amount of SPAM. We have implemented another method of defending against SPAM called greylisting.

Basically, all the implementation of greylisting is done on the servers. However, this first week, our clientele might experience a short delay in receiving legimitate e-mail.
Here is a simple explanation about what happens with greylisting:
Greylisting will "temporarily reject" any email from a sender it does not recognize. If the mail is legitimate, the originating server will try again to send it later, at which time the destination will accept it. If the mail is from a spammer, it will probably not be retried.

Again, the greylisting should substantially diminish the SPAM you receive. All the work has been done on our end. Remember that the first time you receive a legitimate e-mail from someone new, it might take a few extra minutes for it to be received.

If you experience any long (45 minutes to an hour) delays from e-mail that you are expecting, please notify us immediately. The quickest way to get a support issue resolved, is to use our online support system. Log into infobytes.com with your user id and password and issue a support request.

SPAM assassin is still implemented for those clients who have requested it.

Thanks so much for letting us be of service to you
